Painting Description:
This mixed media painting was inspired by the unforgettable moment of my paragliding flight over the iconic Porto Katsiki beach on the island of Lefkada, Greece. The scene is captured from a bird’s-eye view — just as it unfolded before me while gliding freely above the turquoise waters and striking white limestone cliffs.
I used modeling texture paste to recreate the rugged relief of the steep cliffs, giving the landscape depth and tactile dimension. The sea is built up with transparent layers of paint and pearl elements that reflect light and evoke the shimmering, ever-moving surface I saw from above.
The sandy beach is enriched with modeling paste, adding authentic texture and grounding the composition in reality. The piece captures the sensation of flight — of freedom, awe, and the breathless wonder that comes when you witness nature’s grandeur from the sky.
This is more than a landscape — it’s a memory suspended in air, wind, and the raw beauty of one of the most breathtaking corners of the Ionian coastline.
